Inspired by sleek grass track racing machines and paying homage to the racing motorcycles of the 1920s to 1940s, the Ehinger Kraftrad Speedster is another part of Uwe Ehinger's Speedbike trilogy, which began with the Snowracer.
The Speedster features a traditional 45° engine that looks like a Harley-Davidson Knucklehead at first. A closer look, however, reveals that the ohv cylinder heads with open valve train and the rockers milled from aluminum were designed by Uwe Ehinger using CAD software to fit a 1937 Harley-Davidson U-side valve engine.
Other technical refinements include the modification of the original twin-tube frame to a single-tube frame, a narrow Springer fork, an apparently missing oil tank located inside the glittering seat and the rear wheel with its psychedelically designed cover.
The reward for his efforts: "Best Flathead" at the Born-Free 7 Motorcycle Show, where Uwe Ehinger was the first ever invited builder from Germany.
