World War II ended in 1945. And at the Harley-Davidson factory the mass production of army motorcycles ended, too. The regular production of civilian bikes was simply not possible during the war years. In other words, a 1945 civilian motorcycle is a rarity per se. As a contemporary bobber, such a bike is truly gorgeous.
A motorcycle couldn't really fit better into Ehinger Kraftrad´s "rough and tough" series. The Knucklehead came from the USA to Hamburg. Tank, footboards, rims, parts of the exhaust, the rear mudguard, the oil tank, the frame and the – now completely overhauled and suitable for everyday use – 1200 cc engine: everything is original.
The most exclusive way to rebuild an old Harley-Davidson engine is to use NOS (new old stock) spare parts from the time of the motorcycle. Only those who search and collect for a long time can access such rarities. Perhaps that’s something for purists alone, but it’s still very much the ultimate goal in our circles.
