Most projects at Ehinger Kraftrad start with a simple question: how original do we want it to be? The search for the answer opens the door to the philosophical with every new conversion. In the case of this 1940 Flathead, however, the answer was quickly clear.

„The history of this Harley can be clearly traced back to a Vietnam veteran from Florida“, explains Uwe Ehinger. It came to us from him a few years ago – already as a bobber conversion – after some minor detours. Now a Flathead U-model like this is highly sought after. In the end, however, "only" 70 % of this motorcycle was original. Not enough for the typical Ehinger look on such classics. So we built a unique custom bike from what was left.

First, the 74 cu.in. engine was completely dismantled and rebuilt. For the rest, the iron laws of Ehinger were strictly adhered to: excellent quality, combined without frills. Only then may it bear the coat of arms. And only then is the Big Flatty finished: a genuine Ehinger Kraftrad.
